Motor mount issue

Installing my rebuilt 455 and trans into the car and having issues with the new motor mounts. New motor mounts have part number 2328 whereas the original motor mounts have part number 2308. It seems as if the new motor mounts recommended through most part places do not fit properly. I can't get the motor mount screws through the holes to line up. Has anyone had this problem before or do the new style motor mounts need to be modified? Trying to find a pair of motor mounts with the original part number, but haven't had any luck yet. Any suggestions? Thanks

There is not such thing as a P/N 2308 motor mount, so either it's a typo or you misread it. The correct mount that matches the 1969-1972 BBO frame mounts is a 2328. If the problem you are having is that the holes for the bolts that go to the block do not line up, this is unfortunately all too common with the Chinesium mounts sold today. I've had to slot those misdrilled holes with a die grinder on more than one occasion.

I also have had the problem getting the bolt through the mounts. If not real far off, I loosen the mount on the engine, so it moves a round a little, and the when in place, tighten it up.

That's another good point. I always leave the mount-to-block bolts loose, install the cross bolts to the frame mounts, and THEN tighten the bolts to the block.
