motor mount issue

bought a new mount for my cutlass yesterday. don't line up at all with the frame mount. the through bolt hole is about an inch too low on the mount itself. anyone run into this? car is a 71 cutlass S. maybe a mismade part?

Does it look like the old motor mount? Did you double check the part number to make sure it was correct?

If your car came stock with a 350 in it then your frame mounts are most likely 350 frame mounts. If it doesn't look the same as the old mount you pulled out you should take it back and have the parts house pull a 350 mount to compare. You can use either mount for a 350 or 455 but the motor mount has to match the frame mount.

IE, if you have 350 frame mounts buy 350 motor mounts for your 455. If you have 455 frame mounts then buy 455 motor mounts.

That may be the issue pilot. just pulled a junk 307 out of it. used one mount from it, the other was broken. didn't realize they used diff mounts. I'll get another small block mount, see if that cures it. Thanks for the help.
