Finally decided to go with a 455 ..... now a 468ci

So after a lot of back and forth, and changing my mind a couple dozen times I have decided to go with a 455 big block.....bored to 468.

I was undecided if whether or not to just rebuild my numbers matching 400 motor, but decided against and will just put it away in dust and moisture free storage. If i ever decide to sell my 442 I will just reinstall the unmolested stock 400 and keep the 468 for another find. I am just taking the accessories and distributor off of it to use on the new 468. It will be painted to match the stock bronze color that the original came as.

I can't wait......just finished on all the suspension, brake line and brakes on it.

Picked up my new rims as well.

I have attached the build sheet for the motor, please send me any feedback you guys may have.

This build is for a street car ...will not be dragging it.

This is gonna be a torque monster! !

One more thing....the 3 angle valve job will be performed on my stock C heads off of my 400.

I have question for you guys....what carburetor would you recommend with this setup?

Thanks guys

Scrap the stock rods, especially if you're planning on using the Clevite race rod bearings. Those aren't as forgiving as the P series bearing. Buy a set of Eagle rods instead. Lighter and much stronger than the stock ones.
Icon pistons are a little cheaper than the Wiseco's and every bit as good.
Have you thought about going with a roller cam?
You don't need a cam button with a flat tappet.
And I wouldn't buy pushrods yet, you don't know what size until you mock it up.

And I understand your goal, trying to stay with the stock appearance but you'll have a lot of money in those stock irons. A set of Procomps would be a better value.

Best of luck in your project!!!

I agree with cutlassefi on the Eagle rods and not using the original heads from the 400. Even if you want to use iron heads for the stock look (which is what I did) get another set and leave the 400 assembled, complete and unmolested.

I've seen some of your builds on here Mark/cutlassefi, you really seem to like the procomp heads. Any advantage over the Edlebrock, cheaper?

Attached are a couple of pics of the new motor.

Originally had the edelbrock carb on it, but the motor wanted more fuel so I am using a holley 800 vac secondary .....88 jets in the front 3.5 power valve 90 jets in the back 3.5 power valve and #38 boosters squared....16lbs of vaccum

I'd go with an 850cfm quick fuel at the least. These engines like fuel!

I like your build. Let us know how it performs when you get it running.

Hi ..yes we tried to keep it as close to the spec sheet above as possible.....just changed the carb setup.

Was looking for a really nice set of valve covers for it to break up the all the blue on the motor.

No, haven't driven the car yet with the motor in there, started it in a motor stand.

Dyno will hopefully be this week.......shes gonna have a lot of torque and power that's for sure.
