Decided to go with Dynomax Ultraflo Mufflers for the 67 442

After some searching, reading, and YouTube video watching. I've decided to go with a pair of Dynomax Ultra Flo Welded Mufflers

I'm kind of excited, they go on Tues or Wed. The mufflers on it now are pretty tame under acceleration and idle. I felt I needed a little more of a growl since its a 455 big block, might as well match the torque with the true sound of a big block. They are being paired up with Jet-Coated Hooker Comp Headers and 2.5in pipes with a X crossover.

I just hope there is no drone or there is not much at all.

I'll see if I can get it up on youtube for you all this weekend.

Crossing my Fingers that everything sounds great!

THE VIDEO!!!

I'll be looking out for this since I'll be doing a similiar setup. Been trying to decide between these and the Super Turbo's I know the Ultra Flow's will flo better, but I love the sound I heard from the Super Turbo's.

Got them put on this morning.

All I can say is I'm extremely pleased. They have a great sounding rumble at 800rpm idle. No drone under steady throttle, and the perfect growl on hard acceleration.

Best part is they don't drown out my stock dash speaker. They are almost too perfect, and they haven't been broken in yet.

Highly recommended for those who don't want obnoxious, but want that mean big block sound.

Ill work on the YouTube video tonight....stay tuned.

Once again 455 block, 400 heads, mild cam, hooker competition headers, 2.5inch exhaust, and an x-pipe.

I have run them on 4 cars now. From 2 1/4" on a 300HP small block to 3.5" on a 800+ HP BBC. They are the best sounding mufflers on he market IMO.

It is good to hear that you are happy.

Mufflers and pipes make a big difference. Not only for performance but for the "feel" and "image" of the car as well.

Got those on my 1972 442 race car & on my street strip 1987 442. They sound terrific. Good Choice!

Just curious what the PN# was for this one (want to know how long a case this particular one was)

They are probably my 1st choice since Edelbrock Stopped making their RPM mufflers 7 or 8 years ago. i've got a year to go before redoing the exhaust system on my car but i'm still agonizing over the choices for desired sound.

How about a non-Olds question. I recently bought an 08 Chevy 1/2 ton. The 5.3 has a 3" exhaust but I would like a little rumble. I'm an oldster so not wanting alot of noise. Had good success with Dynomax in the past. Pretty much decided 3" in and two 2/12" out and have the pipes bent by a local shop. My truck also goes from a v8 mode to a v4 mode and don't want it to sound like a fart pipe on a ricer when it does. You guys are more "in tune" on the street than I am. Any suggestions?

Every truck I have come in with aftermarket exhaust and AFM sounds really weird when it goes in to AFM mode. AFM is nothing but problems anyway. If I owned one the first thing I would do is put a set of regular lifters in it and have AFM programed out.

Hmmm I've only owned the truck for a couple months, I like the milage it gets compared to the dually I got rid of. So what is the deal with the lifters? I understand the puter's actions.

I am seeing lots of lifter and cam and lifter failures only on the AFM trucks. They also are the only ones that start eating oil when that get to high miles. I don't even think GM knows for sure what going on. We starting seeing it a few years ago with the 07 Tahoes started getting up in miles. There have been several attempts to fix it but none have seemed to help. They finally started letting us put pistons and rings in the oil eaters still in powertrain warranty.

Does it make any difference to use synthetic or dino oil? It's only got less than 18,000 miles on it.

Couldn't say if it makes a difference or not.
