Dynomax super turbo sound

Hi All,

I am trying to decide on what mufflers. I see that that a lot of folks like the super turbo mufflers. Can anyone give me any ideas on how they sound on a stock 350 with factory manifolds and dual exhaust? I am looking for the olds rumble similar to the flowmaster 40 series give but don't want the drone that comes with the flowmasters. I am planning on running 2 1/4 pipes.

Thanks, Joe

Now I won't argue that this that there isn't a drown with the flowmasters, because there most certainly is around 45 mph. But its not overwhelming and gives me the feeling that there is a huge rocket under my hood so I love it. Here is video of it on my Cutlass if you want a little more information (although its also a 455 ;-) )

I still like the sound of Smithy's, steel paks from way back. A bit hard to find, but reasonable, come in 3 different lengths, and sound great on the road. I think the longer, the quieter (makes sense, also!). The '68 convertible has them, and just a very pleasant sound in town, or on the road. Speedy Bill's out of Nebraska has them (they have a website). Good luck!

A crossover or X pipe will calm down that drone - equalizes the pulses, on any pair of mufflers!

Jersey,
I use the Dynomax, because to me, they have the true sound of the muscle cars from the 60's and early 70's, and flow testing has shown them to be among the very best on the market.

X2,
I've put them on the last few muscle cars I've owned. I like the sound and they aren't too loud like some of the hi perf mufflers out there. You can order them through Summit.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will give them a shot. Looks like I am going to have to have a left side front pipe made and will need adapters if I use the stock 2" tailpipes. May just look into the cost of having 2 1/4" left front pipe and tail pipes made.
