engine id help

Not sure if im decoding this right i come up with a 69 455

The block casting
396021f
Intake cast
398662 d2 stamped under that

Left head
Ca 394548a
Right head
Ca 394548a there is also a cfd on the front exhaust riser and looks like a /143/ stamped on rear riser

Trying to figure out if i should keep the heads or replace them any help or advice is appreciated

Yep, sounds like a 69 engine. Its likely this was in a delta 88 orginally, at least thats as much as I've figured.

There is nothing wrong with CA head castings. As long as they are good cores and not cracked.

I come up with 69 455 as well. Intake is also correct for 68-69 455. The heads being Ca heads usually means small valve heads. There was a few low horsepower engines in those years.

The VIN derivative stamp on the block will tell you the exact model year of the block.

I pulled the heads this morning and mic'd the valves.
Intake 2.070
Exhaust 1.625

Block bores 4.125

All +/-0.005
