Edelbrock Air Gap Intake clearance

Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if a Eddy air gap intake will fit under a 71 w-25 hood? If so was a drop base air cleaner required?

What size engine? If its a 350, no problem. If its a 455 you need to do some measuring. Extreme drop base a/f housings with Eddy carbs will require mods if your using an electric choke.

It a 455. I have not purchased a carb yet but be going with a Holley or quick fuel. Motor is still on stand. Went to install intake and found out going to have to machine it down, will not sit flush. Anyway that's a whole nether issue. Just looked a lot taller then my performer that was on there. Any idea of what's a good drop base with a no choke Holley or quick fuel?

Just an FYI, they don't make an air-gap intake for a small block.

I didn't check if one was available for an SBO, thanks for pointing that out. I just looked at the dimensions for the BBO.

Look on Ecklers , Zip, or Corvette America at 65-67 big block Vette air cleaner bases. I have 2, I can measure them tomorrow as far as the drop. They have a nice rounded transition, not the flat squared off cheap bases like most after market bases. Maybe the mid 60's Chevelle may be the same, dont know.

I use this base, be advised it will not work with an Edelbrock carb with an electric choke.

This is a complete set for a bit more:

Is that a base from a Corvette? I was going to change my Vette air cleaner until I found out it flows 1100 cfm and was designed by Duntov himself.
