Drilling crank for Stick question

67 400 crank to be drilled for the OEM bearing. On the Mondello drawing the first hole auto/4 speed shows a depth of .600 deep, The two 67 400 cranks i have measure .720 deep. Has anyone experienced this to start and should i be concerned with this difference in depth to start with provided all other measurements are addressed

This is what i have. A little different but gets to the same result. What is throwing me off is the .600 depth of the large hole. However the 1.190 - 1.230 depth is consistent

If by "first hole" you are referring to the bore that the AT torque converter pilot sits in, that is not a critical dimension. The dimension that matters is the 1.190/1.230 depth in the drawing above.

I dug out a few more cranks and by coincidence they are all stick cranks. The "First Hole" Does vary a little bit in terms of depth but the 1.190 - 1.230 depth are all consistent.
THANKS for the Help

If you use a "blow-proof" bellhousing and block plate, the transmission nose won't go in as deep, so you may want to adjust the measurement for the pilot bearing seating.

I remember Dick Miller saying that there existed a throw out bearing that fits OVER the OD of the crank, but that is all I know.
