comp cam 42-227-4

Anyone have any experience with this cam in a 455? It seems like the best choice for my needs.
Going to paired with performer intake; headers ;750 cfm holley carb. Ported CA heads undecided on pistons but compression ratio will be 9:1

Tuned mostly for street/highway driving 2.56 gears

I looked it up since I don't have the part numbers memorized:

This cam will have a smooth idle and good low end, mid range with no to minimal mods. It is not a performance cam per se. With your mods you could go a couple notches bigger.

If you could recommend one that would be much appreciated. Trying to keep it a little mild. If i break 375 hp ill be happy 400-425 would be awesome but not mandatory. Dont plan on revving much higher than 3-3.5k rpms

Unless you have some really good heads you won't get past 375, especially with that small cam, I'd say 325-340.

I'd do an Erson Hi Flow AH, 220/220 @.050 on a 108 with 4 degrees advance. .504 lift.

I went a different direction on my 455 build. Crane 238/3347 cam. 536/560 lift, 238/248 duration@0.50" tappet, and had Crane tech give me a part number on a grind with centerline out a few more dgrees(you can do this) for better idle, and not bad on the street. Included Crane Hi Intentenity lifters(witch bleed down a bit at low rpms), and MSD multispark ignition. While idle is not exactly buttery smooth, can easily idle in traffic all day long.
