Anyone try a Tremic 5 speed?

Our 71 had a Muncie 4 speed. We then installed a 5 speed Doug Nash/Richmond and It falls out of 4th gear. I Noticed the Tremics are rated to be strong and reasonably priced. Anyone have an opinion about them?
Thanks

Richard (gearheads78) Has one in his 67 and he likes it. PM him for more details. I bought one to install in my 48 Olds.

I love mine. Great modern interal rail shift feel and cruise at highway speeds at under 2000 rpm.

Hah! I remembered that you had one in your car Richard and immediately thought to myself, he's gonna reply. Just knew it!

I know a few that have put the Tremecs in their Cutlasses,& I have a 71 442 here with a Richmond 5-spd. Another thing you might consider is an aftermarket gear cluster for your Muncie. Maserio makes a stock ratio cluster,& an overdrive cluster, keeping the 2:20 1st,but bumping 2nd up closer,& making 3rd 1:1,and making 4th .80. Just a thought.I wanted my W30 to look totally stock,& this helps with 3:91-geared cars.

The new Mcleod transmission comming out looks very promising too. If its a good as they say it is and fits with no cutting the TKO tremecs will become obsolete.

You know the Richmond is the Doug Nash right?

Yes,
I got one of each already, you can't tell the difference except for the name on the case.

Ok just making sure you didn't think you were getting an overdrive by going Richmond

The shifter placement on the Richmond 5-spd is farther back, compared to a Munice 4-spd.The hump will need modified,& if you have a console, the boot assembly will need to be moved back as well. This is what needed to be done on a 71 442 4-spd convertible.

I just did a high horse power rebuild on a Mustang T-5 for my 64. It required a little fabrication to fit but went in with very little work. My car is mostly a street cruiser and I haven't raced it, so I am hoping for a long and happy life together. I estimate that with a 2:95 1st gear and an over driven 5 gear, with my 3:25 axle to have a very fun street car. FYI the car was raced with a Saginaw 4-speed for 10 years before it spit out the cluster gear, the T-5 should hold up better than the Saginaw did.
