4v to 2v Carb Adap Plate. Anyone try this?

I was wondering if anyone has every tried the Mr Gasket #1933 carb adaptor plate. (Converts 2v to 4v square bore and vice versa) I did some work for a friend a while back and he gave me a new Summit 600 carb. I wanted to install it on my 69 Cutlass without having to buy the intake. I was wondering if anyone had tried this and what the performance upgrade was. I am not expecting much without the 4v intake, but was looking for a quick upgrade. Please let me know what you think and again any performance upgrades you may have gotten.

It'll work well for mounting a 2bbl carb on a 4bbl intake, but I'd be very skeptical of it being any good the opposite way. Seems like necking the airflow down so abruptly would be very detrimental to performance and likely cause fuel puddling and distribution issues. I'd bet it would pretty much negate any performance increase from the 4bbl carb.

Time for a reality check...

Look at the area of the four holes on the carb vs. the area of the two holes on the intake. Do you REALLY think that the airflow through this adapter is something that will benefit your engine?

Cast iron SBO intakes can be had for $15 or so. Even a 1970s EGR intake is preferable to this adapter. In fact, get an aluminum A4 intake from a 1980-84 307 motor. These can be found for $25 or less. DO NOT use an A5 intake from the 85-90 307s, however, as the ports are tiny.

People have been trying that for years. It doesn't work! If you want the most bang for your buck get the adapter plate that lets you bolt a Holley 500 2BBL on, you'll swear it's a different car.
