No, but they can be milled to 64CC to achieve desired compression. Talk to Smitty275 he has a great deal on Procomps and he can do the machine work for you.

I don't think you can buy them anywhere anymore.
It's custom made billet aluminum.

Cutty,

Just outta curiosity, why did you go with the performer and not the air gap RPM?

Nice engine, should be a lotta fun,

Thank you guys, I am really excited about this one. It should run way better than it looks.

My goal was to have something that will run great with enough cajonas to have a little fun with. Cutlassefi really exceeded my expectations. It sounded great on the dyno, I can’t wait to hear it in the car.

Thank you and thank you…….you did a great job on them, those covers worked out great. They have nice smooth surface, no scratches, perfect for engraving.

Since my car will rarely see the track, maybe 3x a year, Mark thought Performer would be better since my car will hardly ever see over 4000rpm.

Oh man ......this Saturday I'm taking the Cutlass for the last ride with the 355, Sunday it's coming out.
Taking it down Hwy. 1 along the Pacific Coast from San Francisco to Carmel. Riding solo too, no wife and kids.

I think the Olds Performer is an underrated intake. It has good runner and plenum size for most street performance applications.
Just look at the dyno sheet, it made great torque down low but hp didn't fall off the cliff up top. And this motor just had out of the box ProComps, and by big block standards, not a lot of camshaft. Should be fun to drive

Had a nice ride today in a Cutlass, tomorrow I am planning on pulling the engine out. I was playing around little more with the new engine.

Here is a picture of the carb.

Quick Fuel Black Diamond SS series 850cfm double pumper with mech. secondary.

Congrats looks like a wicked motor, noticed the fuel pump block-off plate so you will be running an electrical pump?
Is there anything that needs to be upgraded tranny wise to handle that much power (converter or stronger rear end), do you have a stock TH400?

We have a lot of folks from the Bay Area here, we should organize something and get together every now and then.
I worked in Daly city for a short time. Bought my first '67 Cutlass Supreme 'vert while living in Lafayette, East Bay. Still miss living there sometimes.

Thanks man. I'll be running a edelbrock quiet-flo fuel pump. I have a built up th350 that I'm gonna try. It should handle up to 700hp, we'll see. I also a have a built up th-400 on stand by. Converter is Hughes HD 2500 advertised stall, it should stall at around 2800 behind the 455, according to Hughes techs.

Finally I found some time to pull the engine. It's not easy to find spare time with 3 little ones.

Now I have to run the wires for the new alternator (cs130-105amp), electric fans and electric fuel pump. I'm gonna clean up the engine bay a little more and paint it again. I figured couple of weeks to do this as time allows. I don't wanna rush this.

Finally it's in the car. It'll be a while before it's running but things are moving faster than I planned.

I have to replace the brake booster with a smaller one cause there is only 1/8" gap between valve cover and the 11" booster that I have right now.

Looking at the dyno sheet I see your pulling up to an inch of vacuum at WOT. I'm becoming more and more convinced these big Olds, need a Dominator size carb. It's a great engine, I'm sure your going to get a kick out of driving it. I think your gonna need to buy stock in Firestone.

Scott

I only ask because I like the specs on your cam and thinking of possibly going in this direction.

Get a 8" dual diaphram booster I had the same issue when I put my new motor in.
I got mine from summit.

Thanks guys, that's good to know. I was wandering which one to get.
Just ordered the dual one. It says it improves braking 27% over single 8".

Thanks Scott. I can't wait to start it up and take it for a spin. Yeah I think Firestone stocks wouldn't be a bad idea, lol. Mark said the same thing on the end of the build sheet that he sent, "Your next investment will be tires, more tires and more tires".

Hi 70Cutty. What color is your block painted. And what did you coat your Water pump and manifold with? Many thanks. Bill.

Not sure what Mark used when he painted the block, I used olds blue from Tamraz to touch it up and it was a perfect match. here is the link

As far as water pump and intake, they are cast aluminum no coating.

Congrats!

Looks like you got exactly what you wanted. This looks like an ideal combination for a long life, fun street build. You sure did show that the Procomps out of the box are a worthwhile investment. I know Mark did an intake manifold test a while back, and I just want to be clear. The manifold you guys chose was the Performer & not the RPM Performer, right? I could see how the slightly smaller runners could give better torque at the lower RPM numbers/ better gas mileage - good for the street. I was wondering if you guys think the Eagle rods were really needed for this power level? Maybe you guys used them just for piece of mind since the stock rods are considered to be a weak link. What did your final compression ratio end up at? If you could start over on this build, do you think you would do anything different? Any plans for upgrading to EFI in the future? Thanks for sharing your build, nice job guys & way to represent Olds
