455 and 350 engines to a good home.

Hello Folks.
I recently inhereted a 66 Cutlass Convert from a good friend that passed away.
I had redone the car for him about 12 years ago.
It had a 350 in it and he wanted to replace it with an original 330. So, I have a good 350 on a stand and I also have a 455 that I reworked YEARS ago..that's been sitting (inside) for 15 or more years...condition is unknown. It was inside..but is quite stiff to turn over...i suspect moisture condensed on the cyl. walls. I'd like to find someone that could use them...I need to get them out of my shop...Running out of room (FREE)!!!
I may consider selling the 66 as well...have to think about that for a bit...
It sat for about 7 years and is going to need paint and a top. I have too many projects now...but hate to see it go since it belonged to a good friend and I have a lot of sweat and a few bloody knuckles invested already!<G>
I'm in Mississippi...
Drop me a note and let me know if anyone is interested.
Thanks.
Ed.

i'd be more than happy to take that 455 off ur hands. i has a 67 delta88 with a 425 that left me stranded in the middle of an intersection one hot summer day. Always dreamed of a 455 4bbl though. i was planning on rebuilding the 425 this winter but if u have the 455 n "begging" to be rid of it i'd love to have it. Thanks, Luke. I have e-mail on my phone so i get messages right away, so if u want please e-mail me at SirMowerMan@Gmail.com

Rebuilding the 425 or the 455 will get you the same result.

I've always wondered that.... So the 425 and the 455 ARE the same motor, but the 455 is just the 4bbl version? How would i go about converting the 425 into a 455? I feel silly when i ask questions like this but i'm still young and learning. I want to go to grad school for automechanics but i don't have anyone to teach me yet except myself... =/ Thanks.

The 425 predated the 455 a few years. They are both big blocks. I believe the 425 has a shorter stroke than the 455. Both engines were available with the 4 barrle carburetor.

The HP and torque specs differ year to year. There are alot of variables that determing engine output. If you want to change your 425 to a 4 barrle carburetor you need to buy yourself a 4 barrle intake manifold and carburetor to fit your engine. You can either buy a stock intake manifold or purchase an aftermarket one from a company like Edelbrock.
