400 rebuild

Want to rebuild my 68 400 for my 68 442 convertible, its a # matching car and I dont want to go nuts but I do want more power. Should I do 455 crank, rods and pistons? Does anyone sell crank kits for 68 and 69 400's? Thanks for the info.

I'm going through this right now.
The crank and the rods are the same as a 455.
My crank was shot so I got a Nodular crank from Ebay and it turned out very nice, the rods I got from Eagle heftier than stock, the pistons cast aluminum from Egge, Crane cam, springs and push rods. It's going together next week so far so good.
I wanted to keep mine #'s matching.

There are rotating assemblies available from Mondello, Olds Perf. and several others.

Good luck.

You should be able to piece something together fairly easily yourself if you want, no need to pay the Mondello etc. prices.

To each his own but I'm not sure I'd spend the money on Eagle rods then put Egge cast pistons in it. Maybe that's all he could find but the stock rods, done right, are usually good to 500+hp with no issues.
