1961 Olds 98 394 fuel pump rebuild kit?
1961 Olds 98 394 fuel pump rebuild kit?
Hi friends,
I’ve noticed my fuel pump leaking some fuel, on the underside of it. I’ve had to rebuild them before, but I cannot find any rebuild kits for my ‘61 Olds 394. Classic 98. Any ideas of where to find them? Can’t even find them on eBay!
Help! Thanks guys.

I got a rebuild kit from "Then and Now Automotive" for the original pump in my 61. I bought another pump from a member from here which needed a rebuild and tried to order from Then and Now again but they didn't return my phone calls or emails. Someone suggested two other places in another thread, one 'The Classic Preservation Coalition' which never responded and the other, 'Cowboy John’s Antique Auto Parts' is where I got it from but I wouldn't recommend it. Cowboy John's kit was incomplete, I had to rebuild the two diaphragms (with plates) and it was missing the bottom diaphragm (he did send the missing one after reaching out to him). The kit looked old and valves are an older style (don't know how they will hold up because I haven't used it yet). If I were to need another one I would go with https://www.fusickautomotiveproducts.com/ their's is more expensive but the kits look complete and the same as I got from Then and Now.
The 61's pump is a dual action and the part #6585 shows on the edge where it mounts to the engine (if it's original).
I found this youtube video very helpful in rebuilding it
- it's a different pump but it functions the same and the build is the same. Follow exactly the steps he does. I didn't and ended up having trouble getting the rods hooked back up and damaged the oil seals.
