1966 POP decode

I need help with my protect-o-plate reading, Body by Fischer plate and VIN!!!
My protect-o-plate reads: I understand that:
960 HH 338076Z109368 960 = Black Interior 3 = Oldsmobile 3807 = 2-Door Sports Coupe w/ 442 Option 6= 1966 Z = Freemont CA 109368 = Serial Number
W055798G C
S1 00100

My Body by Fisher plate reads:
12C 12C = December 3rd week
ST 66-33807 Body BF 780 66-33807 = 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sports Coupe w/ 442 Option
TR 960 Paint HH TR 960 = Black Interior Paint H = Laurel Mist
19471

Finally, My VIN reads:
338076Z109368 3 = Oldsmobile 3807 = 2-Door Sports Coupe w/ 442 Option 6= 1966 Z = Freemont CA 109368 = Serial Number

Somebody please decode the items listed in red above.
Where do I look show my Olds came with front buckets & console, 4 on the floor & dual exhaust.
Is this a Cutlass Sports Coupe a 4-4-2 ?

I seem to recall some info on the forum that true 442's were built only in Lansing, maybe Joe P. can share his wisdom on this.

Not Joe but no they built 442's in other GM plants. The Fremont built 442's didn't have the cowl tag info like the Lansing built cars did identifing them as a 442 with the 5V code.

The VIN 33807 decodes to Oldsmobile Cutlass Sports Coupe w/ 4-4-2 option. In 1964-1966 (or 67) the Olds Cutlass did not make a 4-4-2 model. If my car was built as Cutlass Sports Coupe with the 4-4-2 option does this make my car the 1966 version of a true 4-4-2? I cannot find much more info on this and cannot decode the items I listed above highlighted in red in the previous post.

I moved this to it's own thread rather than resurrecting an old thread that was only marginally related.

^^^THIS! W30 and 31 cars were only built in Lansing. Lesser 442s were built at every plant that built Olds A-body cars.

The problem is that the OP's car is not a 442.

Unfortunately you understand incorrectly. First, 3807 simply means a Cutlass Sports Coupe. It does NOT mean "442 option". Nothing in the VIN or in that Fisher Body style code will tell you whether or not the car is a 442.
Second, the W055789G engine code is a 330, not a 400, so this proves that the car is NOT a 442. The W prefix indicates the 330 cu in motor. The G suffix indicates a high compression 4bbl motor (RPO L74) which was standard equipment in the Cutlass line that year.

Ronnie

You know Joe!
Just a bit of fun. I don't care if it is or isn't, this car is perfect, no body work & not a bit of rust.
I just appreciate someone like you that has that kind of education in this area of decoding. Thank you for clarifying. The VIN does show built (with 4-4-2 option). Joe does this mean my Olds came with all the decals inside and out or has the deceased Dr. tried to Clone the vehicle?
I have the original 330hc in the vehicle with 97k on it. It runs like a champ. The 4-speed Muncie works great also. When I pull the rearend, transmission & engine out should I rebuild these and put them up out of the way for the future value of this vehicle. It really is a Southern California (no rain) garage find.
As I said at the beginning, I have a 350ci Olds that is being build to a 428ci for this baby so the drive train goes for now.

Let me try this again. NOTHING in the VIN will show you that it was built "with 4-4-2 option". The car is a clone. It came from the factory as a Cutlass Sport Coupe, and that's what all the information you've posted confirms. There were 17,455 Cutlass Sport Coupes built in the 1966 model year. Only a few came with the 442 option. I don't know what you are reading that makes you think the VIN indicates the car is a 442, but whatever that was is incorrect.

By the way, to fill in a few more of the blanks from your original question, the two letter paint code is to signify lower and upper body colors, respectively. In your case the HH means that both lower and upper body are painted Laurel Mist. Had this been a two-tone car, the second letter would signify the color of the roof. The 780 on the cowl tag is just the Fisher Body sequence number for the body shell. This is not related to the VIN, at least not directly.

Joe P,
That is what I am looking for....Thank you for confirming that someone tried to clone this Cutlass Super Sport.
What a shame too. When she gets a face lift I will get rid of all the 4-4-2 crap and paint her Laurel Mist
Best Regards All
