Replacement Sport Mirror Glass '70

Does anyone have a source for after-market replacement mirror glass for the '70 sport mirrors?

When I had my set I just took them to a good glass shop and he cut me new glass and installed it. They are both flat glass so there is nothing special for the passenger side.

Thank you for your replies.

I bought replacement mirror glass from The Parts Place, but it wouldn't fit into the mirror holder (it was too large). It was also not a perfect oval shape, so I'm returning the glass.

I'll try some local mirror glass shops.

Thanks again.

It sounds like you might have the aftermarket mirrors then. From what I've heard they are a bit smaller than the originals.

These are OEM '70 sport mirrors - owned since the 70's before after-market mirrors were made.

The mirror glass is held in by the lip of the metal bezel. Getting the glass into and under the lip of the bezel - without chipping or breaking the glass - is the difficulty.

I know this thread is old but which side mirror is oversized? Driver side or the passenger side? My passenger side sport mirror is scratched up and I would like to have it replaced. Now I'm think twice about this.

Neither side mirror is over-sized, but replacement glass is over-sized. Can you grind glass as woodie582 did? If not, do yourself a favor and have a glass/mirror shop install replacement glass in your mirrors.

I know the passenger side replacement mirror comes complete with the bracket in the back, will the replacement fit into the housing?

FWIW, the ebay seller bustedautoglass-parts was extremely helpful in identifying my unknown sport mirrors. Mine were actually from a camaro I think. You can send them a tracing of the glass and they'll search for a match, and their prices are good.
