Pertronix Ignitor II Question
I have a 1966 442 and I have installed a Pertronix Ignitor II ignition and flame thrower II in my car. I have a few questions,
1. I have a Sun Pro 3 3/8" tach and I have it hooked up the same way as if it had a point ignition with the tach hooked up to the neg. side of the coil. Is this OK?
2. How critical is the .010 air gap between the magnet ring and the module?
3. The car has a resistance wire and I have the red wire of the module hooked up to a 12 volt source that comes on when the ignition is turned and I have left the resistance wire and the 12 volt bypass wire that was hooked up the + side of the coil still hooked up to the coil. I think this is correct or is it wrong?
At this time the car will not start.

3. My flame thrower runs on 12+ volts ...
Put phillips screwdriver in spark plug wire where the plug goes, place so it's close to a ground source and look foe spark ...
Call the tech line, they are very helpful ...
I use the matching Flamethrower ll coil that looks like the stock unit ...

If the new coil setup didnt come with a resistor get rid of it, the whole point of those resistors were to help prolong point life. Are you getting spark? If you are I'm guessing it to weak a spark to ignite the gas from this resistor but the bypass wire should at least be giving you enough spark to make the engine kick a little. If not I'm guessing you have the air gap wrong, I remember seeing stock distribuotrs with the pickup coil and magnet with at least a 1/8'' air gap. You have to have enough gap for the magnetic field to send pulses to the pickup coil. Otherwise it's going to send spark to early or to late.
