Look what I found under the back seat
My dad bought a 50 Olds back in 76 that had sat since 68. I remember digging in between the seat where the loose change collects and it had several dollars worth of silver coins and pennies. It was a 4 door and the seat didn't fold up.
That is awsome!
When I took the interior out of my 71 a few months ago I found all sorts of change and candy wrappers (luckily no candy). I also found a note written by the original owner in August of 71 that was addressed to one of his coworkers. He mentioned in it that he no longer had the Blue Cross and Blue Shield files for "Mr. Smith" they spoke about last week. The original owner of my car was a Dr. Getty.

Treasures indeed. Footnotes of the history of the cars and/or passengers. To me that really personalizes the car.
When I was taking the front clip off my '66 442 (4-speed, 3.90 rear), there was a 4" dia plastic pipe and "flange" mounted behind each headlight assembly. Traces of duct tape were on it. It certainly wasn't OEM, and I found some numbers on it that identified it as a plumbing drain pipe part. What the heck?? When I realized the center of the pipe lined up with the high beam headlight holes in the core support, the light went off! I knew owner #2 drag raced the car, and those flanges must have been where hoses were attached (duct taped) to make a home-made ram air setup with the intake though the high beam headlight housings ala Ford ThunderBolt style.
The stories the cars can tell.......

They usually have an old bobby pin or one of those metal jacks from a girl jacks and ball game stuck in them, pennies always. Ever crawling around and kneel on one of those medieval jack torture devices?
My car was bought new at Bill Burch Oldsmobile in Alahambra, California by Londell Alexander Littlejohn Jr. L.A.P.D., delivered 1/6/71.
I found an original Sears roebuck credit card.....back when they were smaller than they are today.....it is actually about 3/4's the width of the cards used today.....I should have taken it to Sears and tried to buy a riding mower....lol
I found in my '69 Charger, deep in between the trunk and the back seat panel, two spent shotgun casings?? Just made me smile with all the stories these cars could tell. Was this just from a hunting trip...or a bank robbery??

My only story is that I found the actual carbon copy of the window sticker stuck under the dash of a 70 Bel Air I had.
I found one shotgun shell when I pulled my carpet...
Under the front seat I found over a dollar’s worth of loose change, some lady's brown satin pants (hmmm….
), and lots of strange tree debris.
In the dash I found a 1990's registration card from 2 owner's ago. The car once resided in Georgia for a LONG time. They must have strange trees there...
Underneath the carpet was a time capsule of stuff. See if you can you find the following:
Crayon, pen, .30-06 rifle shell, GM service claim card, button, candy wrapper, cigarette butt, acorn, radio shaft nut.
The build sheet was found stuck to the black tar splotches just below the button…

I took a look at what new floorpans would cost at a bare minimum, and I was happy with what I found under my carpet.

And Jamesbo, y'all have strange trees out thar in da sou-east!

Especially those that have more spiderweb-looking moss than leaves.I am thinking that my car spent over 15 years in Atlanta - sure you had not seen it before??

Rob,
If you're speaking of Live Oaks with Spanish moss. Ya gots the wrong area. Much futher south towards the coast plain. Charleston, Savanah etc.
Ya probably picked it up on your Light house tour.

Spanish moss? Heck that stuff is sold here at top $ in crafts stores for flower arangements... We have live oaks here, but that moss covered those trees over there beyond recognition... The palm trees sure took some getting used to... I felt like I was in another world over there, as that was my first time to the southeast. Scenes from the "Hobbit" movie came to mind.
It was fun though despite all the suspense on the way!

Spanish moss in the wild is chigger haven.
Let it look pretty blowing in the breeze, but don't put it in your car or you'll wish you hadn't.
Did you venture to Daufuskie Island while you were in Hilton Head ?
That where Pat Conroy's book "The Water is Wide" and later the 1974 movie staring John Voight "Conrack" took place.

I wanted to go there, as there was a lighthouse there I wanted to see. But from what I remember, access to that island was very restricted, and only by ferry. Either I had to be a member of something or I did not have time.
The PO of Lady did tour me around Hilton head and snuck me into a very 'prestigious' country club to let me get some lighthouse pictures. Afterwards, I drove to Tybee Island, which seemed to have taken a small eternity...

I still cannot believe the size of mosqitoes there! Over here in TX, they fly through the screen door. Over there, they stop to use the handle!

I have always found unusual stuff and you can always tell if a car ever had children in it on a consistent basis. When I or my Dad get another car, we go through it looking for money. He now has at least 2 mason jars full of change but he will not cash it in. He says its for beer money but I have not seen any beer in his shop in a long time!
You didn't buy that Charger in Hazzard county did you? Was it orange and have a rebel flag on the roof?
When I went to look at the car when I was buying it I had the previous owner put it up on the hoist since he happened to work at a car dealership. The whole bottom of the car was like new. That is one of the things that sold me on this car.
