Very cool. Don't forget to put it back when you're done.

I am surprised you did not find more money under there. When I put new carpet in my Z28 I found about $10 in change under the center console and carpet.

So if you keep pulling the car apart, sooner or later you'll find enough change for coffee at Starbucks?

  1. Anton Chigurh: Well done! Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter.
  2. Gas Station Proprietor: Where do you want me to put it?
  3. Anton Chigurh: Anywhere not in your pocket, where it will get mixed in with the others and become just a coin, which it is.

I still have a quarter from '69 found under the back seat of my '70 Cutlass wagon stashed. When the new carpet goes down, the quarter will be placed under the jute for the next sentimental idiot... It is part of the fun of restoration!!!!

When I pulled the seats and console out of the 442 convert I found this empty money clip and a parking stub from the horse races

I was going to pull up the carpets in the 442, and take a look. I could use a coffee, but somebody's glued the carpets down !!
Probably have to check all my cars to get enough for a Starbucks, anyway.

It's pretty interesting the stuff you'll find in old cars. I've found lots of old coins that looked like they'd been there since new based on the wear. I found part of an old protect-o-plate in one car, that's how I discovered it had come from California. I also found the tomb for an ancient mouse once, it was like a little altar, built up in a pyramid shape, with lots of soft fluffy stuff above that, and a perfectly preserved dessicated mouse corpse on the top. Thankfully, he hadn't chewed through anything before he croaked.

I used to find lots of money in my old pick up trucks I'd buy. The guys would load up the armrests, glove box and ashtray with coins and then I'd end up with them. They wouldn't even clean them out. The oldest boy used to love to help me clean out the vehicle and pocket the loot back in the late eighties-early nineties. Actually, I'm going for coffee with him at 6 this morning, and he's going to clean me out of my coins for the bus. Guess nothing has really "changed".
(Awful early for puns, sorry)

Lol when I ripped my carpet out I found some old phone numbers with ladies names on them (none work today). about half an ounce of pot stems all stuffed under the console. And when I got the car the back seat was worn out and torn up. Hmmm I wonder why???

I found some old coins from the 60's in the heater box when I retored it last year. Old cars can be big time capsules...
