is the original carpet on a '70 442 2 or 3 sections? the one in our car looks original, but the front section is 2 peices under the front buckets and then the rear part.

does anyone know the correct plating or paint finish for the following items? 4 speed shift linkage and reverse lockout linkage? hood latch and hinges? coil bracket? lower control arm bolts and nuts? upper control arm shaft washers and nuts?

has anyone ever found a build sheet above the gas tank on a lansing built 442 or W car???

Sounds like someone might have "modified" your carpet or replaced the front. To my knowledge, your car should have a 2 piece carpet. Having buckets shouldn't make any difference to the carpet. It just means that there are different hole patterns for the seat mounts/tracks. The carpet should be a jute back 80/20 loop, and both back the front carptets were "preformed" to fit the contours of the floor pan and trans hump. If the carpet is split under the console, I would suspect a backyard repair.

Good question about the build sheet. Never found the actual build order, but I found 3 broadcast sheets in my car. 1 tucked into the dash wiring loom, 1 under the front carpet, and 1 on top of the gas tank when I had to take it out for a leaking filler neck (The sheet wasn't in very good shape but was recognizable for what it was). My car was built in Lansing 04/72.

I know Kanter sells reproduction carpets for classic cars. However, I think they are generic. There is also a place called EZ Rod Interiors (I think that is right), they do generic interior items for most muscle and classic cars.

I ordered a under hood and light harness from brothers auto product they

say they compete at shows. I also ordered a set of door handle gaskets as

the ones from opg were a joke...

 

Try www.accmats.com I have them in my 68 and they are direct replacements for the originals.

we've used ACC in the past. they fit well and are good quality. the only issue i have is they seem to get fuzzy. i can't find anyone's carpet that has the look and feel of original carpet.

 

I almost bought a cherrry cutlass just to ravage NOS pieces. I got out bid though ...

 

I bought carpet from this site twice:
http://www.autotrimsupply.com. Seems to be of good quality, they appear to be selling the ACC products but about 1/2 the price. I bought both carpets with the mass backing option which really quiets things down.
