1965 442 Steering Wheel Cap

1965 442 Steering Wheel Cap
Suddenly the center cap for the steering wheel keeps popping off. The metal plate that holds the cap to the wheel hub pops out of the cap. Seems to be a snap-fit, anyone know how to get this to fit tight again?

if I remember correctly it’s keyed a certain way the slots have different widths.
