Steering wheel center cap removal

Steering wheel center cap removal

1952 Oldsmobile 88. Any tips on removing the Decorative Cap in the center of steering wheel? It moves back and forth a little when I twist it. Seems like putting a thin piece of metal and prying up would damage the cap or steering wheel. (Don't want that).

Given the age of the car, you will be doing a number of things to it, and will get lijmited help because not too many people have memories that long. I recommend getting the shop manuals as a valuable resource:
