70 442 tire fit? 16x9.5, 4.5 backspace

Hello, I have a 1970 442. Have an opportunity to buy 295/50r16 on a 16x9.5 rim with 4.5 back space. Do you think they will fit? The back space has me concerned.

That sounds like a potentially tight fit if you have a stock-height rear suspension (and that assumes it's not sagging from aged springs). May sit too close to your inner wheel well lips at that width / backspace combo.

Best idea might be if they're local to you is to test fit before you buy

I run 17x8's with 4.5" BS all around on my CS stock-height suspension, the rear has 1" spacers for an effective 9" track. But my tire size all around is 245-50-R17, which clear the rear wheel wells without issue - but you might be coming significantly closer (if not practically touching) to yours with the combo you're suggesting.

4.5" backspace on a 9.5" rim width is not zero offset and will push the tire outboard, likely rubbing on the pinchweld flange at the wheel opening.

Thanks for the replies. I decided not to go with these rims. finding a 16 inch tire isn't the easiest...
