275/60/15 on a 15x10 rim
#5
Thank you all very much. I have 295 50 15 on now. looks ok, but too short. Was thinking of trying the one 325 50 15 in the garage (tried it on chevelle but sidewalls looks to baloony). but that might be toooo big. the 265/50/15 has height and width on 10" rim, so that may be it. especially after seeing bad a$$ pictures above. Looks fantastic. great rake too.

Thanks. Personally I want the back lower like 1.5 inches but my driveway has a short steep entry to the flat and I have to tuck my exhaust up a little more and re do my driveshaft safety loop.

you probably want the 295/50/15 look. The back stays in that take off look. I like the back up just a little... I have 295/55/15s on Chevelle and air shocks for when I throw on the 325s. Want to keep the Cutlass wide but not E/T Street or huge as the engine doesn't have the power (yet). Will be putting white super stock rims as Cragars do it for me on the Chevelle but not my Cutlass.

Im still hooking on yhe 275 but need suspension work now that i went to a 3500 stall. But i think the adjustable uppers, lift bars and 80/20's in the front should do the trick along with coil overs in the rear.

Changing my ‘68 442 to 28” tires from stock for a few reasons. Clearance coming in my driveway and moving from 3.23s to 4.10s. 28” tires look good and accomplish my goals. Do the stocks 15” SSIIs Work or are there cost effective lightweight alternatives that would work better, particularly on rear 275/60/15s? I’m not opposed to going a little narrower on fronts as I’m looking to run some quarters this summer. I like the look at AR Torq Thrust wheels although those may not be any lighter than stock.

Weld pro stars and centerline's will be the lightest wheels for the lowest price. As far as tires in the front the mickey thompson S/R radials are light and will get you home safely. In the back a 275 60 15 drag radial from Mickey thompson should be plenty depending on power and suspension mods

As per the original poster’s question posed, I am also curious as to potential problems with using a 10” wheel. What would be the drawbacks or safety concerns using the 275/60? I have always intended to purchase 295/50’s but am intrigued at the idea to add just a little height and sacrifice width. I don’t want to consider it if there will be problems induced though. Trying to do due diligence...

Copper, I’m sure you’ve probably mentioned this elsewhere, but could you tell me your offset on those 10’s? Also, my wheels are heavy. 26# per each, but then again I’m not overly concerned with time slips.
