15x10 with 5" backspace only?

As the topic says, they sell 15x10 with 5" backspace only over here. Will they fit the rear of my 72 Supreme, when running something like 275/55(or 60)r15s?

The fronts would be 15x8 with 4,5" backspace Planning on 235/60r15 there.

I don't think you will have any issues with a 275 width tire. Something larger like 295 may be close and need 5.5".

Why are you looking at a 10" wide rim for a 275 width tire? Most folks run 275-60s on 8" wide rims, and some put them on 7" wide rims. I think 10" would be way too wide and the tire would be skinnier than the wheel. My brother-in-law did that back in the 80s on his GTO (10" wide rims with 275 width tires) and it looked dorky.
I run 245-60s on a 7" wide rim, both in 14" and 15" wheels. I think an 8" wheel would be overkill for 235 width tires.

I'm running a 235 on an 8" rim in the rear at the moment and it doesn't look terrible at all. The tire certainly shouldn't be any narrower, but it doesn't look bad.

The principle I'm working with is that you should go for the smallest tire that has a maximum recommended width being your desired rim width. In theory that should make for the most rigid sidewall, and thus better handling.

I got that principle off the Olds FAQ, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: Said rear tires:

235 mm is 9.25", so I'd say I'm faaar of that "German rim" look yet.

I run 295/55 on 15x10 and 245/60 on 15x8 with no issues, car is lowered 1 1/4 in the back and 2 1/2 in the front. I had 275 on 15x10 and it doesn't look bad, I don't think it's too narrow but 295 looks better

Professur: I drive her every day. :P Turns heads over here, bigtime.

70cutty: That looks awesome. What's the backspacing on said rims? My front is lowered ½ an inch, the back is stock/saggy.

Hmm, looks like it'd work.

These are the rims I was thinking of getting, with 5" of backspace only. To me they look like they're on the way out o the wheelwell. Mind you, I was NOT going to get the lime green ones, but the chrome ones instead.

I agree with oldcutlass, those are 305's, it looks like they stick out more than my 295's.

In any case, the 275 wouldn't be nearly as wide. :P

Whether that's a bad thing is up for debate.

I didn't say a 235 on an 8" wheel would look bad; I said I thought it was slightly larger than necessary.
I said a 275 tire on a 10" wheel would look too narrow. The sidewalls will "stretch" outward from the tread to the rim of the wheel. The BF Goodrich site shows for a 275 tire the max rim width range is 7.5-9.5, with 8" being the one they use for their specs on the 275-60-15 tires.

Fun71: Gotcha, my mistake. I guess a 295 wouldn't be bad at all either.

70cutty: ...That doesn't look bad at all. I don't think any narrower would work, though.

Thanks. I've yet to do a picture of girls on my hood, but I should get around to that...

I always liked this picture better, though - even if those ARE Buick rims. >.>

The tire pic is the difference in contact patch between a 15x7 and 15x10 with the same 275/60 tire.
