SSIII wheel? Will disc brakes fit?

I have a 69 Cutlass conv that came with these 14" wheels. From reading other threads I think they are SSIII from the 80's. What I would like to know is if they are in fact that and if I upgrade to disc brakes will the caliper clear? I would think all cars from the 80's would have come with disc brakes.
thanks,
Steve

Right Stuff Detailing, Wilwood for example are offering disc conversion for that 14” wheels.

I odered the right stuff version as it looks more original with the 1 piston caliber

That wheel should fit stock disc brakes. The pic below shows the difference in stock wheels. #1 fits disc brakes. #2 does not. Photo courtesy of another CO member.

Ok, great, I'll check out my rims. Am I correct on them being SSIII from the 80's?
thanks,
Steve

Yes, that would be my best guess from your pic. There are some numbers stamped on them if you can locate, including a date code. I'm not versed in decoding them, but somebody here sure is.

14" wheels with snap on center caps would be from that era. The early (60s-1974) 14" wheels had bolt on center caps.

Every single SSII/SIII wheel ever made by Oldsmobile clears factory 10.75" disc brakes used on A-body and G-body cars. Nearly all of the 1967-1972 cars made with disc brakes came with 14" wheels from the factory. Only the 69 H/Os came with 15" wheels in that period.

That’s great info! Makes me feel sure that disc conversation will work with my 14” SSIII
