SSI rims correct for a 68 442?

I have a chance at 5 of these for my 68 442 for 200 down the road from me. Are these correct or are these spacific to Chevy, Pontiac, olds etc? I believe these are 69 dated ? Yes need repaint and such a tiny bit of rust but otherwise are 14 pretty obsolete? Trying to stay pretty stock.
Matt

Those look like correct SSI Oldsmobile wheels from the 1969 model year and the M4/9 says these wheels were manufactured in 1969. They also look like the LE coded SSI wheels (can't tell for sure; two letter code should be on the back side at the edge of the rim, along with a number on each side of that code that gives the month on the left and the day on the right). LE-code wheels will not work on cars with disc brakes. The LY-coded SSI wheels (again, stamped onto the back outside on the rim) will work with disc brakes.

As has been noted in previous posts, the old super stock (now referred to as the SSI) wheel was supposed to be superceded by the new super stock wheel (now referred to as the SSII and will work with disc brakes) with the '68 model year. But there was a production problem with the new super stock wheel so, on '68 A-bodies, there are a lot of confirmed situations where the SSI wheel was used. I'm only speculating on this point, but it appears that there was a market for both the SSI and SSII wheels so both were available in the '69 model year (option code P05 for the LE and LY SSI wheel and option code N66 for the LR SSII wheel). The LY SSI wheel didn't become available until late-March 1969 and they are somewhat rare.

Randy thanks she is a 4 drum unit so really not worried about that though I did want to put disks on the front I might not now. Always liked these rims wish they were 68 ones but no will know when tires are on. For the price of 5 for 200 can’t really go wrong in my option.

In fact, it's documented in a factory bulletin.

Well that’s that then I will use them and verified the previous owners statement that they were on the car and he had them laying around and tossed them a few years back. Cool matt

...and $200 for all 5 of them is a great price, I might add!

I used them on both my '68 and '69. I agree they look the best! The '69 has the style for disc brakes. You can't tell the difference until you look closely at the rim for each style. Randy C.
