Finally some progress after a looonnnngg winter..

I have been collecting parts over the winter waiting for some nice weather, which has been a long wait! One project that is keeping my car on jack stands at the moment, are the wheels..and I finally got the paint on them today. Thought I would share some progress....

Now time to mount some tires and get the cobwebs blown off the beast!

Thanks guys, they aren't going to win any awards but they are a far cry from where they started!

Sounds good to me, I can't remember a winter where I was more housebound...not really a single nice weekend to sneak out to do anything.

I feel ya brother. Central Illinois was bad too. And the propane prices ate my wheel/tire budget! Had to shut down the heat in the shop completely so I'm behind schedule. I wanted to have a good part of the summer with my '71 on the road. Now I'll be lucky to make the end of summer.
Oh well, I'll quitmybitchen. At least it's getting warmer finally

Warmer, yeah. It's gonna be 97 on Thursday. Spring is over already and summer is here.

Nope, here either. Barely broken 60 a time or two. But I'm not ready for 97 yet. Especially since it will come with 90% humidity.

Yeah, top down weather is over already. It's almost time to park the car for the summer.

Skitch the wheels look great. Curious, what process did you use on them?

Thanks, I'm afraid its not a crazy scientific process...I had a friend who was able to sand blast them for me to bare metal, then I did a bit of metal work and removed some dents and dings (they aren't perfect by any means)

Primed with VHT wheel paint primer, the backs are painted with VHT Graphite Wheel paint and the fronts are painted with some rattle cans of touch up paint from touchupdirect.com

I'm still working on buffing out the trim rings and center caps...so a work in progress.

All in all they aren't going to win any awards but should be good driver quality wheels for a good long while.
