Exiter wheels on a W car
Not at all!
A lot of the MW Exiter ads in late 60s car mags featured them on A-body Oldsmobiles. Hey, a Lansing company working with another Lansing company, right? Then MW made them to Olds specs for the 71-72 big cars. Olds seemed to like that 8-vent wheel design.
I have a set on my 74 Hurst/Olds. Mustang vendor had them at a Fall Carlisle show ten, maybe more, years ago, for $10 a wheel NOS. Hey, a Ford can't use a 4.75 BC wheel...
He had ten- if I'd been on the old faithful Gray Ghost wagon they'd have all come home with me, but since I was on that stupid-*** Bravada, couldn't fit them all in it along with what my friends had bought. It was a cramped ride coming home as it was.

Wheels
Guys:
I had a set of these on one of my cars back in the late 70's or early 80's. I had never seen them before and did not know who made them or where they came from. They were not like any of the other wheels back then.
Thanks, Ron

Not so much a book but a booklet, a brief history motor wheel through the years.
Diego, I have no problem lending to you if you want. Just shoot me a pm and I will send to you. Bare in mind a few olds wheels but everybody that they built them for including commercial trucks.

To Rocket raider: I have been in Lansing since I was born which was 1969 I have never seen anyone running these wheels except the B body Oldsmobiles.
Not try to call you a fibber. I just never seen anyone run much more the cragers SS, Keystone Klassics or American racing around for aftermarkets in the 70's and 80's or maybe it was just our local preference?

Pat, most every ad I saw for the Exiter showed them either on an A-body Olds or occasionally a Mopar. Used to see those ads a lot in Hot Rod, Pop Hot Rodding and the like.
I never saw a set of Exiters on a car here either because everyone also stuck with the big-name chromed steel wheels (the Polycast Exiters were way heavier and, from what I've read, way more expensive).
The SSIV used on the B Olds is similar to the Exiter but different. Exiter had polyurethane all the way to edge of the wheel where the SSIV stopped a couple inches in from the edge and had a recess for a trim ring. The center tower is different too- Exiter had a molded poly tower that the MW centercap snapped into (and an 80s FWD SSIII center will snap in like it was made for it) and the SSIV was flat in the BC area so the heavy chrome diecast Olds ornament could bolt on.
I've had plenty of people ask me how they could put SSIV on an A-body and the answer was you can't without an adapter. Then I put them on the Pace Car and everyone said "you said those wheels won't work". Then you have to point out the differences.
Neat wheel with great style, just a little ahead of its time and too heavy to be a real performance wheel. I will say that set of four NOS ones I got for ten bux each was one of the best deals I ever got at any swap meet anywhere.
Needless to say I've had SSIV on all my 70s big cars too- they made the biggest difference in my 76 Ninety Eight's appearance. Big girl looks like she's ready to get up and dance! Not to mention they just look more like what a Ninety Eight ought to have.

My sister bought a '70 Cutlass "S" brand new and had a set of Exiter rims installed shortly afterwards. It was Twilight blue, pearl bucket seats/console, and blue vinyl top. It looked unique with the Exiter rims and they were a great conversation piece with first time observers of them.
Besides the Cutlass, I do not recall seeing another car with Exiter rims back in the day.
My brother has an '71 Ebony black Cutlass "S" with pearl bucket seats/console and is currently looking for a set of 14x7 or 15x7 Exiter rims for his car.

They may be rare on an A body, but not my cup 'o tea. I'm still waiting to see
if someone has a side shot of a car with those uglies, I mean Exiters on it.
That at least would give a better idea if I Really hated them on not, Ha.
No, don't post a B body shot, thanks.
