I've had really good luck with Michelin LTX's on my Dodge deisel truck with no premature degredation and great tread life. Put 60K miles on em, and then tried some Nitto's. Had severe tread speration on those and went back to the LTX's. At the time I was a volunteer firefighter down around the Bulverde area and that terrain ate them Nttos' up.
The thing about tires is it boils down to personal preference and experience. There is no right or wrong tire.

I have been using Michelins for about 15 years now, two cars that I had them on, I put 55K on both sets and they had excellent tread on them when I got rid of the cars. I currently have about 32K on the ones on my daily driver, they replaced the crappy Bridgestones that were on it. I have never had a problem with Michelins, and they are an excellent tire with the handling, braking and grip that I want. I will continue to use them.

i change my tires if they show cracks in it of if it doesn't contain enough profile.
this is aprox every 15500 miles or within 6 years of use.
Than they are worn out do cracks or not enough profile to pas the m.o.t.
better safe than stupid, especialy on the german autobahn.
I even look to the highspeed stamp on the tire, and match those with my cars top speed.

The new technology of retreading is alot better than that of 20 years ago. Check out http://www.treadwright.com/default.aspx. I am running a set of retreads on my 05 Silverado to see how they work out right now. Same tread pattern as a BFG AT at about half the price. I have put about 15000 miles on them so far and I would have to say they are the best truck tire I have ran in ten years. They are performing and lasting much better than the Generals they replaced or the Bridgestones before that. They are warranted against seperation, and I did alot of research on them before getting them. I couldnt find anything bad about them, just good replies and reviews. Dont think this companies make a set to fit my Cutlass anyway.
