Width is fine but those are kind of tall (about an inch larger in diameter that the OEM tires). I've run 255/60-15s on the front, which are a little smaller in diameter but over an inch wider and they would rub occasionally with the wheels turned hard at a bump.

My former 1970 Supreme had 225-70-15s all around when it was bought as a second car back in 1977, and I never had any issues with fitment or rubbing during daily driving to high school, work cruising around on Friday and Saturday nights, etc. Ran that size tire for several years before swapping to 245-60s all around.

I use to put the biggest tires on 17'' rims on my 87 cutlass
