15" wheel for Cutlass

Are there any easily obtained in junkyard (read pretty cheap) 15" wheels for '68/69 Cutlass?

these days doubtful.

you need a 4.75" bolt pattern on a wheel designed for old rear drive vehicles - these days all I ever see in the yards are newer gen front-drive stuff.

you'd do better checking Summit or Jegs for the cheapest Wheel Vintique or similar brand steel wheel variants - you can go 15x7 (4.25" backspace) or 15x8 (4.5" backspace) on those as your preference might dictate and at least they're new so balancing shouldn't be an issue.

otherwise watch your local Craigslist or swap meets for used stuff that might come up

Ill bet the classified section here will yield a set for you. Also, place a want-ad.

14" SS2 & 3, are relatively common and often being unloaded due to limited tire size selection.
15s with bolt-on center caps are far less common and more expensive due to the limited 2-year manufacturing run.

Concentrate on the 1975 and up 15" snap-on center cap wheels. They will be far less expensive and far more plentiful.
Expect $50-75-100 each for good clean straight wheels with the 5 stainless trim pieces intact. They might even toss in the outer trim ring for ya?

Note:
If during your search you do run across 73/74 bolt-on center cap 15" wheels and you pass on them please do forward me the info in a private IM. I'm looking for a clean set of 5.

I'm not looking for Rally type wheels or wide tires. Stock 15" GM steel wheels that'll take stock 15" Olds wheel covers (hubcaps) is what I'd like. Something that'd fit 225/70/15 tires, as those tires are still available at reasonable cost. This is for my Cutlass 4 dr
Holiday Sedan (hardtop).

Those shouldn't be too hard to find as they were used on Chevies also, If you can find a old school yard....

For some reason Chevy and Olds were some of the last GM divisions to use 14" wheels on full size B body models like 88s and Impala, my '68 Caprice had 14" wheels, too small IMO!

There are a boatload of potential wheel donors, but even those are 25-30 years old. Depending on where you live, most wrecking yards only keep the most profitable vehicles around, so that's usually 20 yr old and newer. In any case, you can look at S10 pickups, 1977-1990 B-body cars (Caprice, Delta 88, etc) that do NOT have taxi/police packages, G-body cars, and third gen F-body cars.

The 91-up whale body Caprice used the 5 x 5 bolt pattern, as did all 77-90 cars with HD suspension and brakes. Be sure the wheels are 5 x 4.75. Interestingly, the space saver spare on these cars has both bolt patterns.

What wheels did the taxi/police cars use?

All my 15's came from Pick-a-part mid-seventies Vista Cruiser's. That size was fine on the '69 with BFG 235 60 15 for 50k miles. Maybe a little wide for some people. A good street combo considering the occasional pothole. That was back in the 90's when I was upgrading the 4 door 69. Now, on the '68 coupe, I have 17 x 8 steel D-window wheels so I can get the vr speed-rated tires in 245 45 17.
