Has anyone had this with their 80s boxy style GM wagon? One of my leaks comes down from the passenger side quarter window rear lower corner into the spare tire well on one side. The driver's side drips dead center top of the window from under the outboard side of the roof interior molding into the storage pocket. I just can't figure out if it is the window or the rack. Any experience would be beneficial. It's been raining so I can't due a controlled leak test right now. I knew about the sparetire well so I put truck bed liner in it. The driver's side leak appeared yesterday.

 

The roof rack goes into nutserts in the roof of the car. The rub strips just use sheet metal screws. As the sealer dries up and flakes off, leaks ensue. This is another reason why I hate roof racks.

 

Do you think they would be the roof rack? Can you still get the nutserts?

 

SMP, you should be able to get the hardware. Eastwood or other body supply companies probably have it.

Thanks for the info, I will try them. I have to pull the drooping headliner so I'll get a better damage estimate then.

 

Would they carry sail panel retainers?
Do you guys know what style retainers hold the chrome sail panels on? I have a broken one but can't see under well enough to tell. The shop manual is vague and the parts/illustration book doesn't list them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
