Tire clearance for First-Gen Custom Cruiser

Looking for some input on possible tire clearance issues on my wagon.

I scored a set of SSIV's and am heading in the direction of a Raised White Letter. I currently have Cooper P235/75 R15's, but was looking at the Kelsey Tire Goodyear P225/70 R15's (Part # P3AC2). I know it's not much, but I'm concerned about possible rub issues with the wider tire. Has anyone put a "70" tire on their CC?

Appreciate any real-world experiences.

The "70" has nothing to do with width. It is only the ratio of section width to sidewall height. The 235 and 225 numbers are the section width in mm, and your selected 225/70 is NARROWER than the tires you currently have.

235/75-15 tires are 28.8" in diameter with a 9.25" section width
225/70-15 tires are 27.4" in diameter with an 8.86" section width.

Math is your friend.

I would be more concerned whether the SSIV's bolt pattern will fit. IIRC the Delta 88 bolt pattern wasn't the same as the 98/Custom Cruiser back then. At least that's what I found when I tried doing that swap on my 1983 Ninety Eight. (from Delta 88 Royale)
If you've already test fitted the wheels and they're ok, disregard this comment.

When the OP says "first gen Custom Cruiser", I ASSUME he's talking about the 1971-76 cars (yeah, I realize Olds built cars called "Custom Cruisers long before that, but we're talking about wagons here).

In any case, EVERY SINGLE 1971-1992 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon came with the 5 x 5" bolt pattern. Even during the 1977-1990 period when lesser B-body cars got the smaller bolt pattern, wagons retained the larger pattern and the larger brakes that came with the HD suspension and brake package.

Yeah, that was my point but I didn't obviously express it well. Those SSIV wheels were made exclusively for the D88 series back in 1971/72 only. So if that's the case they would likely have the smaller bolt pattern, no??

Except for the 1964-66 Jetstar 88, every single Eighty Eight from the 1950s to 1976 came with the 5x5" bolt pattern. It was not until the advent of the downsized 1977 D88 that the smaller bolt pattern was used routinely.
