Windshield compatibility between 1972 Olds models

I'm looking around for a sunshade for my 72 VC - they seem to be non-existent. However, I found one online for a 72 Cutlass. Is the windshield the same?

Thanks,

John

Yes, I think they are the same - if not exactly, then close enough for the sunshade.

Try measuring the windshield length and width, then compare that to the size description for the sunshade.

They should be identical. The front of the VC right back to the B pillar is interchangeable with other Olds A body post sedans, and the window trim is compatible with all the Cutlass A bodies.
Hmm, I just checked some glass company links I have. They show different glass for sedans and holiday coupes.

Check this link: http://www.autocityclassic.com/1970-...le-4-dr-wagon/ It's specific for 70-72 Chevelle wagons which must be similar. Call them and ask about the application for VC.

Cool, thanks! I called Auto City Classic and they confirmed that the Cutlass should be the same, or any four door sedan or wagon like the Chevelle wagon.

Thanks for the quick replies!

p.s. Checking the sunshade manufacturers, this is confirmed - all are the same part #. For whatever reason, they have no cross-compatibility listed for the VC.

John,

The 4 door cars have a taller windshield than a regular cutlass coupe or hardtop.

If if they are telling you the same for a 4-door, I would make sure. I think the 4-doors are about an 1” taller if I remember correctly.

FYI- Here is the thread where I had asked some questions about it.

Since, they were telling you same as 4-door, you are probably ok.

Just for completeness, there are THREE different windshields that year, coupes, convertibles, and four doors/wagons.
