Uh, B-body or A-body (yes, in 79 the Cutlass was still an A-body)?

My B-Body wagon weighed 4260lbs before I have even tried any weigh reduction. I need to get the aluminum hood on and get it to the scales before I do the road course event.

Red face

Sorry,I'm kind of reluctant to say....its a pontiac,uh hmmm.OK! it was also cheap[300]!Its a 79' based on the G-body,same car as malibu, cutlass cruiser wagons, excepy for the frt clips are different, and the interior. It would be OLDS powerd,so can i get away with it?I'm just hoping to find out someone has really got one lightened up,lite enough to stop me from hunting a different car to build. Thanks, some flaming is to be expected,HHAHAHA,later,BO

That's exactly what I mean. The A-body designation was used on those cars until the 1982 (yes, 82) model year, when the FWD A-body cars came out (think Cutlass Ciera and clones). That's when the existing car line was redesignated as the G-bodies. Of course, mechanically the 78-88 cars are nearly identical, but the platform designation was changed.

Ok so the cars and chassis are pretty much the same just the designation changed. Thanx Joe.

Yeah, the two major chassis differences are the extension to the frame for the trans crossmember when the 200-4R became available (1981???) and the use of different spindles in 1978 with smaller outer wheel bearings.
