Spotted a 64' Vista Cruiser collecting dust today

Working in Chico CA this week and spotted what appears to be a fairly rust free 64 VC wagon. It's out in the country and there was no one around to ask about it, but looks to have been sitting for quite some time. No for sale sign on it but I can provide the location If anyone wants to follow up on it

If the roof glass is intact, it's worth a small fortune. Would be interesting to pull that car out of there and take a good look at it.

Looked like the roof glass was intact, but the driver's side window was down or missing.

So the interior has been exposed to the elements for the last umpteen years. Not good. Probably a parts car at best.

Took some more pictures, looks like the roof glass framework is pretty rusted, and from the inside I can see one roof / side glass is cracked. Looks like the driveshaft and tranny cross member are inside the car.

How do you even get rust like this here on the firewall?

Even if you got this car for free, it will cost you three times what it's worth to restore it. The 1964s are not well supported by the aftermarket and VC-specific parts are even less available.

Go ahead, ask me how I know this.

Looks like it might have been underwater at some point in its lifetime.

Isn't that where the pan for the windshield wiper cavity joins the firewall? It's probably full of debris that's been holding water for years.

Our 65 f-85 wagon from Lake Tahoe is relatively rust free on the upper exterior. All of the bottom facing surfaces had crazy surface rust on them though. All I could figure was that the car sat in the snow for extended periods of time and condensation accumulated on all the underside surfaces and just sat there. The complete underside of the car, under the hood, the bottom side of the roof inside the interior, all had surface rust.

She's returning to the Earth.

That bay window VW mini-bus is cool too.
