Just collecting opinions

Restifying my 71 Cutlass convertible and need some input. Body color is going to be really, really red (think C*rvette or Tr*ns *m Red) with white interior and black carpet. Underhood colors is the question. It is a 350 with coated headers. Not looking for originality, just a sharp car.

Should it be:

Olds gold motor or red?
Flat or gloss black chassis?
Flat or gloss black firewall?

Please pick one of each and provide pics to support your views, if you can. Or maybe you have a completely different idea?

Thanks for your time.

If your going to repaint the whole car I'd do the firewall and inner fenderwells body color. Chassis: Gloss black
Engine: Body color or Black, I wouldn't introduce another color to the color scheme. Keep it clean and simple. The best engine compartments I've seen, hide as many wires as possible, clean anything out that isn't needed, and highlight the best areas of interest. Limit how much "bling" there is. My $0.02

I would go with gold for the engine and semi gloss or satin black whatever you wanna call it for the firewall and frame.

I second that... Although it is a stock paint job, I think it looks just right. Olds made a good color combo then.

If you are going custom and smoothing everything I would do body color on the firewall. If not then semi-gloss for firewall and frame. I like the gold against the red car. Check out some of my build pics to see that color combo. Gloss black on a stock frame does not do it for me.

here is a pic of a 64 F85 I did a few years ago.

100_0597.jpg

the engine compartment is the same silver I used on the stripe.
the block is the same color as the car.

I think the red w/ the white interior will look good.

I painted the engine in my red 71 red, didnt like it so painted it black.

my 2cnts....
