55 Olds PCV conversion
I am ditching the road draft tube for a PCV valve. I am making a aluminum plate to bolt up to the crankcase baffle but need to know what valve to buy for the 324 engine with stock 4 barrel. Also can I run a T-fitting off the back of the carburetor for the valve and power brakes or do I need a separate carb base plate for the PCV valve?

When I tried that there wasn't enough vacuum to supply the brakes that is if you are using the large vacuum port at the back of the carb .The treadle-vac is a little weird about low vacuum. Does your road draft tube smell or smoke If not the old system will work well as it was built....Tedd

Thanks for the information Tedd, I want to run the treadle-vac and did not consider that problem. I guess an additional base plate with vacuum port would still affect the Treadle-Vac system.

Ya, I thought it was a good idea until I tried the brakes, wasted a couple hours making everything fit then had to put it all back as original. but I have had no problems with it since mostly because my engine is fresh with a new rebuild. I have seen worn 394's that would smog you out at a stop light they smoked so much......Tedd
