olds 403 pcv valve

I bought after market valve covers for my 403. they do not have any holes in them. i know both pcv valve and the valve cover breathers have to do with crankcase pressure. Im just wondering is there a benefit over the other? should i run both? Also as far a the pcv valve goes. couldn't i drill a hole in the exhaust just after the collector and run a hose from the pcv valve down to a fitting on the exhaust. Wouldnt the exhaust gasses passing by create a vacuum effect?

Yes, but...

This is common for race engines. The only thing to be aware of is that the exhaust has pulses. You can buy check valves that allow the exhaust to evacuate the pan when under vacuum but blocks the exhaust from going into the pan when there's a pulse.

yeah thats what i bought. SO is that all i would really need to run is two breathers on each valve cover with lines running to check valves in the exhaust? Is that enough?
