Hello everyone,
I am from France and I have a olds 88 recently. Could someone help me decipher the tag?

BODY N° BL 4451
TRIM N° 81
PAINT N° 10

From the Oldsmobile shop manual
STYLE No (No is a dumn English abbreviation for "number")
54 means that it is for the year 1954
36690 means the style number of the body such as 2 door sedan, 4 door sedan, holiday coupe, convertible, etc., within each series (88, super 88, 98). This style number was not used in 1955, so you will need to look at a 1954 manual or get it from someone else on the forum.
Body No
The letters BL mean that the body was assembled at the Fisher body plant in Linden, New Jersey. I am unsure about the 4451. It may be a sequential number, unique to your body.
Trim No ??????
Paint No
This is a paint color specification number. In 1955 it indicated "black", supplied by either of two companies. Rinshed-Mason number L21K400 or DuPont number 246-2048.
There probably is also a serial number plate on the body pillar post just in front of the driver's door starting with 54..............
54 is the year of manufacture.
The third digit is the designation of the body style (88, super 88, 98).
The fourth character is a letter. It shows which plant built the car (an L designates Linden, New Jersey). The remainder of the number is a serial number unique to your car.
This is all that I know. Perhaps others can help with the unknowns.

I have a 1955 Oldsmobile 88 and a 1955 Oldsmobile Shop Manual. Some of the codes may be different, but I will say what I know.

I think I can decode this tag with the 54 manual. Currently the car is white and the interior is white and blue, but I think this is not the original color.I'll wait for other answers.
