Restoring a 1964 Fiesta wagon. I am currently dead in the water trying to find the oil slinger behind the timing gear on the crankshaft. Does any one know where to get one or a cross reference of other Olds engines and years that will work? OPG showed to have one, but it has been on back order for about a month.

I just rebuilt a 1964 394 V8 for my Dynamic- pray tell, what is an "oil slinger"? Behind the timing gear? I'm trying to remember what was behind my timing gear, besides the block... Is it a flat circular piece of metal with a notch for the crankshaft keyway? It goes behind the timing the gear? Is that right? If so, I put mine between the timing gear and the front cover oil seal. I'm thinking it still slings the oil... details, details!

Thanks for the info! The Oil slinger from what i have read keeps the oil from hitting the seal on the timing cover and creating a leak over time. It is the part as you have described right behind the timing gear on the crank. As fate would have it, Mondello called me the day after I posted my question. It took them 3 weeks to reply as there was an illness in the company. They have one for $30 + Freight and it's on it's way. As I'm sure you know, getting parts for a 64 394 and a Dynamic 88 can be challenging. If you have any sources besides Fusick please share. Where did you get the parts book from 65?
relooked at the diagram and it is showing the slinger on the outside of the timing Gear. Mine was on the inside and bet that's why it's bent. I guess the timing cover holds it in place? Do you know what keeps it on the crank?
