47 Convertible project start
Now that I am out of Newbie status --just barely, I thought I would post a pic of my new project car a 47 Model 66 Convertible. It's the fourth Olds I've owned. My very first car was a 39 Olds at age 15 then a 56 88 hardtop while in college but couldn't afford to drive it very often. About 11 years ago I did an on-frame restoration on a 65 Cutlass Convertible and now I have the 47 Convertible. I bought it as a started street rod project but am going to leave the body as stock looking as possible and keep the street rod stuff undercover. I'm finishing up another street rod and couldn't stand to be without a current project. I really enjoy the build and do most of my own work. I'm retired and have more time than I used to. Money and the time it takes to do things slow the process but what the heck, it's fun and relaxing so why hurry? The biggest needs are a good grille and the operating system for the top. The metal bows are there but no parts for operating the top. Anyone with knowledge of where to source 46-48 Olds parts? I'd sure appreciate some guidance.

It is going to be beautiful.
The 47 convertible is going to be a beautiful machine. I have a stock 47 club coupe. I'm down in Hillsboro, Or. The convertibles are, few and far between, but they should be out there somewhere. A place that may have some parts is: Oldsmobile parts and supply. On the internet it is www.usapartssupply.com. You may have this already but they do have some parts, and also kanters may have some help. Take care. 47 Coupe.

You're only about an hour southwest of me. I guess Olds guys are everywhere. Thanks for the encouragement and the possible parts suppliers. Send a pic of your coupe to me if you feel like doing so. Email attachment works fine: jerome1@cni.net

47 Coupe, I saw the pic of your two tone blue car when I clicked on your ID. ignore previous request for pics. Very nice looking car. It will be several years before I get there with the convertible as I do most of my own work and move pretty slow. Finances limit me too.
