Rearend pumpkin 501826 j309
I'm a newbie. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have had a 1932 Ford 3 Window coupe dragster in my garage (in storage) since 2001. Well, at 69 years old, it's time to get to the restoration. Before I received it, a young guy back in 65....(he's my age now!).....put this rear end in the car with a 50 olds engine through a 39 Ford box. I'm trying to identify all of the pieces now and the rear end is stumping me. Any help out there in Olds land? Thank you all.

I read somewhere in a post that this was a 324 engine, not a 50 Olds which would be a 303 CI or did you mean 50's era Oldsmobile? If you give us the number on the heads, if it has numbers. No number is 49-51 #2 is 52 -53 #7- 54 #8- 55 #10= 56 we might narrow it down a little. This is off my head but I think it is correct. If this has been discussed before and I missed it please disregard this comet.... Tedd

My parts book shows a 501828 for '39 to '52 (except certain ratios). That J309 could be a date code for October 30, 1949 if the codes then were consistent with later ones for GM rear ends. CFD (Central Foundry Division) date codes for Olds engine blocks are straight Julian, but I'm not sure about casting date codes for other components.
