I stopped by the local auto body supply house today on my way home from work and got some 3M glazing and bedding compound for $12.00 and put it between the glass and gasket, now I just need it to rain so I can see if it worked.
Next time I will put some sort of sealer in the channel where the glass goes in the gasket so it will seal up the first time. Luckily I didn't have to take the glass back out, I just took the bottom and side trim off and peeled the gasket back, blew out any water with the air hose then ran a bead of the glazing and bedding compound in there, waited about 15 mins and went around with a razor blade to clean it up.

Finally got the time to get this project started. I have the glass out and need to clean both the glass and the body of the car up. I have some pictures I will be putting up today or tomorrow. There aren't nearly as many of them as scamp, but I hope they help people out.

wiper shaft trim removal

Question. Didn't see how you removed the chrome bezel around the wiper shafts. I know the nut comes off, but the chrome piece below it won't seem to slid all the way off? A bit of advise here! Have replaced windows in a Mustang and '55 chevy, but the olds is a little diff. in the trim removal.Thanks!



I'm not too happy with the trim on the driver side because it is sticking out further than the passenger side but I don't feel like messing with it right now.

Finally back from leave. Sorry I know I haven't been very punctual. As you can see I went a different route than scamp and I cut from the inside right behind the pinch weld. I felt it was really easy to just cut an area behind pinch weld then drag the utility knife around the perimeter.
After I it all cut out I just lifted and pulled it out. All this was done by my self.

Hopefully I can get this done by the fourth. Work is taking me out of town again.

Just a thought but if you can pull the gasket out like that maybe some windshield sealer in a caulking gun could be put in there between the glass and gasket. Maybe help it seal the corners. Good job by the way.

Thanks, I had some intentions of putting the sealer in between the gasket and the glass, but I was unsure if it would affect the way the glass would settle into the gasket. Right now I have to work on cleaning the whole working area up and I bought some rust stop spray paint I am going to put down. Then I am going to some sealer down on the pinch weld as per the instructions from steele rubber then it's go time and the window goes in.
