welch plugs in the deck of a 59 371 olds block
can any one help me with some info on these first question why are they there i presume to restrict the water flow second question what size are they anddo they really need to be there as they holes in the head are there i can not find any thing in the workshop manual about them i hope someone can help i am not talking about the ones at each end of the block with the hole in them but the ones between the bores

This might be a plug that was used in connection with the block casting process (sand removal) or perhaps to channel coolant in a certain way through the block and heads. If you could post some photos it might help.

THANKS everyone for there help verymuch appreciated yeah thats why they would be there i guess to remove the sand on the cast i think i have it sorted out sizing is alittle strange but i will recheck the size with yours runto rund yeah i am still trying to work out how to get pictures on here no such thing as computers when i went to school we only had girls to play with
