Re drilled mounting holes

Scarbird Kit

Fit good ... A little fight but was able to use the original paddle . do recall re drilling the Brake Pad to the right to accept the push rod
Did you use stock wheels with the Scarebird kit?

Anyone know if this setup works for a 1949 Olds 88? I'd like to keep the drum brakes but upgrade to power brakes with a vacuum booster.
Great work!!

i did use the stock wheels, but used a spacer adapter 5x5 2"
the 2" was what i had laying around ... im sure a 1 1/2 would be ok to use.

Anyone got a pic of the difference between an OE wheel and the replacement for Discs?

Cheers.
I don’t have a photo but the offset of the oe wheels combined won’t clear the calipers.

Haven’t been here in a bit but I’m still here! Glad to see this project helped a few.

There should be a solution, at least for the rear, matching the OE 14" wheels:

Do you still have the '57 that you put this power brake booster configuration onto?
It looks as though the brake pedal pushes directly against the master cylinder push rod with NO mechanical multiplication (leverage). In other words a one-to-one brake pedal to master cylinder piston ratio.
How has it worked out? Do you seem to have normal brake "pedal" and function?
Thanks!

The mechanic and I have been working hard to try and figure this out on my '56 for awhile now.... maybe one of you super smart folks can assist

We've succesfully mounted to the floor board the summit racing 7" Booster. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-760169 Looks good, lines up with the pedal, we're happy there.

I purchased the Wilwood Combination Remote Master Cylinder, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/WIL-260-7563

That's where we're having issues... the mounting bolts on the Unversal booster are 3.375, and the brake master cyinder is 2.25, and they are 90 degrees offset. The booster wants the cylinder to be horizontal, the oritation on the cylinder needs to be vertical.

I've beeen scouring for a remote master cylinder that is 3.375 mounting and cannot find one. Been searching for a bosster that is 2.25 and cannot find one. This seems absurd... am I just doing the wrong searches ?

After much discussion we've basically just come to a "F IT" moment and have decided that we're going to build a bracket that will use the 3.375 holes vertically and provide some 2.25" holes for horizontal mount.... might have to lengthen the pushrod a lil bit.

Thoughts ?

ABS brakes now makes a bolt in solution for this… a little expensive, but could make things a little easier.

willwood

hi willwood has an adapter that i bought but still modified it ... holes to narrow. making one is the way to go .

good luck w you conversion.. my 7" booster from a ebay sell was junk, but i was able to use a Malibu booster. (junk yard)

kit

Had a leak in the Wilwood master... a few yrs back ..and replaced it .

Still running good .

The one from PowerBrakes looks interesting.....the peddle in thier design looks like it would be set a lot lower than the original .
