RPM at idle?

Anyone know the stock spec for engine RPM at idle? I don't have a listing in my manual. I'm also having a hard time finding an open vacuum port on the intake manifold or carb. I need this to set the air/idle screws. I think I'll tap off the vacuum for the wipers. thoughts? Thanks

The Magic 8 Ball is currently inoperative. Therefore, unable to assist w/o Model, Year, Engine size & Model/Manufacturer of carburetor.

Unless it's been removed, look for the engine tune-up specifications label on the fan shroud. This car have AC?

Thanks for the correction on missing info. I’ve made so many post on this car over the past couple weeks I thought I’d stated those details in this post but didn’t.
1949 Oldsmobile 88, Rochester carb. 6 volt. Other than the recent Petronix ignition, its stock. 29,000 original miles.
no data on any under hood tags

I looked at your recent posts - you're the chap w/ the '49 88. Well, that one is going to be out of my league on idle specifications. Generally, that type information is contained in the tune-up section of the manuals, or directly in the front under the maintenance sections. Any vacuum should work fine for making the A/F mixture screws adjustment. Find a currently used vacuum line, and use a "T" fitting to tap into the vacuum line. I would think a rough estimate for idle would be somewhere in the ballpark of 850 rpm?

Back then very low idle speeds were seen as desirable. Like 400-450 rpm low. I'd start at 500-550 meself. See if you can find an old Motor's, Glenn's or Chilton's manual covering the 49.

If you have a vacuum pump still disconnect and cap it while adjusting the carb.

Oldcutlass, should I also disconnect the vacuum line that goes to the choke and the vacuum line that goes to the distributor advance before setting the carb?
