Road trip starts today
Headed out to day, Olds is as ready as I can make it, probably in better shape than any of my newer cars. The plan is to cruse the California coast starting just below San Francisco and end up somewhere around Sata Barbra, wife is the navigator and I'm just the pilot so I'm not sure of the itinerary but I've been told we will be busy.Pictures when we get back, see you all in a bout a week......Still lost in the 50's ...Tedd
I'm back and a little used up
First of all what a great trip, about 1050 miles 3/4 of it with the top down! Used two jugs of sun screen and we are still burnt to a crisp, got a cramp in my thumb from returning greetings from passer buys and there were smiles spread from Chico to Santa Barbra.
Car ran great, we averaged a hair over 15 MPG with the low 12 something and the high over 18 MPG . The high was interstate 5 which surprised me because we were doing 70- 75 and we were holding up traffic. The low was in the Monterey and south on HWY #1 where you can see your own taillights as you navigate around the twists and turns, probably averaged under 25 MPH in that area and only the passenger should be looking at the sites, one screwup and it's a long beautiful fall to the ocean.
The only car worries were it has developed a small leak in the power steering somewhere under the car( not the pump which had been rebuilt last month)and the heater control valve gave it up so the heater wanted to be on all the time, good in the morning melt down in the afternoon.
Also I noticed a slight wobble of a tire at about 6 MPH but it would become unnoticeable at any speed higher or lower. This was with my steelies with radials which I use mostly for travel and hadn't been on the car for a year so I could have lost a wheel weight or something, who knows. Pictures are still in the cameras so when I can I'll post a few..... All and all it was a great trip but It's good to be back home ..Lost in the fifties
